Here is an interesting thought about the war between DVD's and Blu-ray. Exactly where is it going to end up? I thought I would share some study and experience with both to try and answer. this will hopefully assist if you're thinking about switching to blu-ray. I'm still pretty content with my DVD but I've noticed some advantages with Blu-ray. Here is what I've discovered.

Firstly, Blu-ray discs have far more storage space than DVDs have. While regular DVDs have only 4.7 GB of room, their counterpart discs can keep up to 27 GB - which is 13 hours of regular definition television, or 2-3 hours of HDTV. This means that you can store a lot more info on a disc, which means more special features for your movies as well as more details to view on your HDTV.
Blu-ray discs are also physically far more durable than DVDs and CDs. This is why they're also ideal for pc information storage and console gaming.
Buying a Blu Ray player (or Blu-ray player software) doesn't mean that you will need to replace all your DVDs, as you may have done when converting from VCR to DVD. All Blu-ray players are compatible with DVDs which means that all of your DVD films will work just fine. Most players also "upconvert" your DVDs; in other words, they enhance the definition of your standard DVD to a better image for HDTVs. If you've a substantial collection, you are able to still view them in higher than regular definition (though it's still not HDTV)!!!
The most noticeable advantage of Blu-ray discs over DVDs is currently being employed, although it hasn't been totally explored. This is HD TV. The quality of the images on HD TVs won't be of the same quality as that of a regular DVD player. The audio quality will likely be incredible too.

Overall both DVD and Blu-ray offer a great deal. I am positive they'll both continue to improve as well over time and offer more and more for our viewing and playing pleasure. Which ever you prefer is obviously working for you. So why change right? Enjoy and have fun as always!
